Course Summary
Want to charter a yacht overseas? This is the course you need.
The International Bareboat Skipper and ICC course is a five day course and it is not for beginners.
This course includes both the Bareboat Skipper qualification AND the ICC (International Certificate of Competence). This combination is widely accepted by international charter companies.
The course is comprised of online learning along with 5 days of on-water instruction.
The online theory is extensive and can take up to 40 hours to complete. Please allow enough time to complete this prior to the on-water component of the course.
The practical component of the course is approximately 25-30 hours over 5 days. Typically beginning at 9am and finishing at 3pm, however there is one longer day to allow for adequate passage planning. The longer day is determined by weather conditions at the time of the course.
Need to gain more experience first? Check out the International Crew course, as the prerequisite to this course.

Loved learning with yacht training specifically Coach Pete Linford. He was a great teacher snd taught me some amazing skills ultimately leading me to get a job on a 40m sail yacht! Couldn’t have done it without him.Posted on Google Simon LeeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I completed Bareboat skipper course with Pete who was awesome. My wife & I stayed on board 40 ft for the course duration in Westhaven. She was a non- sailer so the experience was a great intro for her. Pete’s quiet encouraging manor gave her the confidence to fully engage and learn as well as I did. Thanks Pete for the training and added knowledge to take our sailing to the next level and we fully intend to buy and retire to a live aboard 45ft yacht soon.Posted on Google Andrew BurnsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
